skid plate?
So I've learned a lot about hooks over a few recent posts from you guys. appreciate that info. With that knowledge I'm looking for a better mud rig and came across this https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/boa/6124929194.html I went and looked at it yesterday and the guy welded a 3" skid plate strip on the bottom of the boat at the transom. There is a lip from the true bottom of the hull to the weld bead. Did the guy totally F up this rig? He said he talked to builders about doing it and its the way to go for added protection since the azz end of the boat is what is going to be lowest in the water. I get the thought process on it but now learning about hooks, that seems to be a guaranteed lip for hooks to occur... right?

3/16" longitudal ribs - drive it like you stole. there ain't no guarantee that you won't put dents in it so got a good boat and use it.

Re: skid plate?
I would ask to go run it if your interested. Yes that patchup on the bottom is going to hurt performance some. If your not trying to be fast the dont sweat it. You wont feel so bad when you put your first good dent in it. Then talk him down on $ due to a half ass hull

Re: skid plate?

Re: skid plate?
after reading a little more into excel hulls and how much you guys dislike them... ill just pass. no need to have a subpar hull with a BS strip on the back.
