Re: Prodigy pros and cons?
When I'm in between starters exploding (which has nothing to do with prodigy), mine runs great. They build a good boat. I've only got 1 con related to the boat itself, and he doesn't put the gunnel cap on that way anymore and hasn't for a couple years, to my knowledge. It would be a non issue for you. I haven't managed to break any welds lol

Is there any options that you don't have that you wish you would've gotten?

Re: Prodigy pros and cons?
I looked hard at the Prodigy boats. When I looked over the reviews, I do not believe I ever saw a negative comment on their boats.

Every Prodigy I've seen I liked. But the price!

Re: Prodigy pros and cons?
The pro - $0 down financing for up to 10 years if you even consider that a pro. I consider that a debt trap. The con - good luck selling it to get out of the note. A good idea if you are wanting a prodigy IMO, look in the classifieds. TONS of used rigs that have hardly any hours on them. And why for sale that's so new you may ask. Refer to the pro I listed up top... lots of people want a rig NOW and realize they can't afford the note, or it doesn't go 40 mph like people make them believe.

Re: Prodigy pros and cons?
I plan on keeping whatever boat I buy for a good while. I don't go to these mud shows run things, I don't run open mud flats with no destination in mind and I'm not trying to impress anybody. When I stick this boat to my truck I will be going kill or catch something, so I will not be flipping this boat just to have the newest best thing in 2 years. Just looking for a well built hull that will outlast and out perform the rest.

Re: Prodigy pros and cons?
I have a wide open 1851 prodigy,. I wanted a open boat so that's what I got. I use it and abuse it and have had no issues. I installed the hydro truf rear lights and interior lights myself to save money. If there was one option that I would add it would be a built in fuel tank, That red tank sucks!!!! Having said that I priced the same gator tail rig and it was almost the same price. People talk about how pricey Prodigy's are but they are pricey because people want to put everything but the kitchen sink in them. I know for a fact you can get a complete 18' rig ready to hit the water boat with a 37 HDR and trailer for under 18k. Continue to Reshearch so you can make the best decision for YOU, good luck with you're new rig.

Re: Prodigy pros and cons?
FYI: I've had zero issues with my 1854. It's been paid for before I picked it up so I owe zip. I've had mine since November 2013. I've got a stage 2+ and no it doesn't run mid 30's or even 40 mph. I built my motor to carry a heavy load and it does that very well. I can run 30.5- 31 mph with a light load. Cooler, wife and black dog of 82#. I can load it with 3 good sized guys all 215+ pounds, 2 dogs, 5 dozen weighted keel mallards and 1 1/2 dozen floater geese, personal gear and everything else needed for a duck trip and still get on step pretty quick in shallow water and run 24-27 mph depending on conditions. I've got the open concept with cat walks all around, an extended front deck 13 gallon fuel tank and blind. If you have any questions about these boats pm me anytime. Todd

Re: Prodigy pros and cons?
I do not recall seeing any serious negatives about them. I love mine and will buy another one when I get the itch
