Post subject:  1542 seat removal

I have a 1542 tracker Jon boat with a backwater long tail and float pods. The rear bench seat is a nuisance and I want to cut it out. I know this means I will be removing the equivalent of two cross ribs, and so my plan for that is to weld in two 1" aluminum square tube ribs.
My question is, I know the seat has some foam in it, will removing it drastically reduce the floatation of the boat? I'd like to leave it off all together but if it's gonna ruin how well the boat floats then I will re install it but just move it back a bit.

You're kidding, right?

Are you asking if you remove the foam, your boat may not float as well?

Yes, flotation in a non commercial boat is suppose to float the boat level if it feels with water. But for the way it floats without being full of water. is not effected except for the boat will be lighter and more so if the flotation has become water logged. If you don't like the seat, cut it out.
