Post subject:  Scored a Free Canoe

Just got a Mad River Explorer canoe for my favorite price of free. My youngest brother is holding on to it until I can go pick it up.

This thing should be the ticket for getting back into the shallow creeks near me that are rock and hard sand bottom. The canoe is about 11 years old but is garage stored and is about like brand new condition. I plan on doing some ultra-light tackle fishing for large mouth, small mouth, and walleye. I may also hunt from it some.

The only thing I am not digging is the white color. If I was to hunt from this thing, I would want to camo it. I am wondering how hard it is to camo a fiberglass canoe. The last thing I want to do is paint something and have it flake off and look like poo.

Man that thing is mint!!!

I'd turf the inside of it and painting it should be cake. Scuff and gator glide the whole thing!!!!

That is a pic I found online of the same model and color as my canoe.

I think mine is in every bit as good of shape. I told my brother to snap a pic of mine (I have never seen it).

My chowder head brother took a pic, but he decided to add a George Washington crossing the Delaware pose along with it.

Take it in to your builder and have it painted the same as they're doing your boat

That would be an awesome idea if my boat builder was not ten hours away.
