No motor talk, but it depends on what motor you will be putting on the boat, really.
I haven't owned a godevil boat, but been in both.
They are both built very well. You'd be happy with each one.
if you have a prodrive motor, get the prodrive boat, and same for godevil

Depending on what you're buying, they literally roll out of the same fab shop doors..

I really like the looks of the PD hulls. I also prefer their layout vs the pods and seats in the GD boats. There is more usable room in the PD boat.

Structurally, they're identical... PD uses some different layouts and configurations but the hull is essentially the same. GoDevil literally builds a good percentage of Prodrive's hulls in their shop. functionally, the PD uses a boxed transom with a lip running the whole width of the boat. The GD uses a cutback or tapered transom. It's supposed to allow you to pole the boat easier in reverse since none of their models have that feature.

I personally would like to try my GDSD on a ProDrive Hull of the same dimensions and see what the differences are due to the transom. The chine is identical on the GD Surface drive models and the PD hulls. The GD round chine boats are obviously different though.

I think at the end of the day, if you're going to be running a GDSD, get the hull to match it.

I don't think they have foam in the X-Series models.
im not sure about the SBX series though.
I also agree with what SETx is saying.
If you go with a GDSD get a godevil.
You go with a PD get a prodrive

No foam in any of the PD boats, and don't hold your breath on GD releasing a reverse system any time soon.

The sbx is self bailing, doesn't need foam. The x series is a commercial hull, no foam.

Test drive complete hull & motor combos...

Otherwise your running a crapshoot...

If you're concerned about sinking a boat, id go with prodrive SBX. But just my preference.
If speed is a big deal to you, the SBX may be kinda heavy

I've had both, both are great boats. PD now has the t-rail system that makes it much easier to add accessories, including bow fishing rails should you ever choose to do so. I also like the open layout of PD. However, I currently own a GD 18x44 with a 37 GDSD and it is my favorite boat so far. I've had 3 GDSD rigs and a PD rig, this round chine hull is my favorite. GD boats are plain and simple without all the extras, but are built like a tank and get the job done.

X2 --- on the GD 1844 with 35 GDSD

That is my current rig and my 4th MM setup as well
and is hands down my favorite setup because of
where I hunt and how I use it...

But test drive any setup you consider before you buy...

Sounds like you're wanting an 1860..... but don't expect it to turn like that 1644 does. It'll do fine once you learn how to drive it but it'll never turn like a round chine hull will. Just physics. Don't expect any MM with pushing that size hull with 4 people to be fast but the GD 1860 has always been the hull to have when carrying heavy loads, they just work. I know I've had mine loaded heavier than I should have a time or two and have had no issue getting on step and getting where I was going, even with a stock 37 engine.

I use mine for that a lot. The sliding isn't as terrible as it sounds, just takes some driving to get used to.

Where exactly are you located?

Thats why test driving is so important....

SETx and I run very similar areas and have run together a time or two...

He uses his a bit different so he prefers a different size and design....

Wide and tapered runs shallower over sand but can't turn as sharp in
the skinny water as narrow and tapered...

Every design has advantages - just be sure to get the advantages that
will best assist you where you want to go and with the loads you
plan to carry...

I do run mine in real sandy creeks a lot. One thing I've found is that if I can find a foot or two of water to get on step in, my boat will run on plane and not touch the bottom in places a 14' canoe with two people in it will drag... I've done that lots of times. Your planned use and terrain should dictate what hull design and size you end up with.

Also, just like anything else you buy, you can "what if" yourself to death purchasing one of these things. Plan for what you do 90% of the time and adapt for the other 10%, you'll be much happier with your buy.

I went with the 18x44 with the solid bench, it has set pedestals across the bench as well. And we also use ours for everything from hunting to sand bar riding. Me, my wife, and 2 kids fit perfectly in the boat. My wife and youngest usually sit in the bench and my oldest rides in a fold out chair I front of them (which is what most people do in a mud boat anyway). I had an 18x60 and there is definitely more room/ more stable, but will even slide in deep water. Yes it is somewhat controllable once you learn it, but I run a lot twists and turns

Well I just test drove an 1860 with the 37hp and it really was nice to drive. I don't think the sliding will be that big of a deal. I picked up on letting off the throttle going into the turn, and giving it gas as I'm coming out and I did just fine. Lots of room in there for my family and I, the split seats are the way to go for us. Thanks for the help!! I think we found our boat.

Maybe some day when my pockets are deep enough and there is a dealer closer I'll try a pro drive.

I bought my first mud boat from mainstream. There are getting to be quite a few people with mud boats in the area.

I hate it
