Post New Hull Question
Looking for a surface drive boat, 3 man hunt load so probably 17-18 footer. Will be going from the salt marsh to the freshwater timber swamps. I've read thousands of reviews on every forum on the interwebs. As I start my search for this hull what are some of your recommendations as far as brand. On a serious budget...dont need all the luxuries but want the boat to perform well and last. Is there a custom builder that is on the cheaper side? Or would I be best off with a Go-Devil or one of the larger name brand hulls? Thanks in advance...

Look into Uncle J boats. He has awasome work at very fair price.

I'd look at an 1854 with tall sides and a pointed bow and nothing else.

On a budget? Don't need luxury? Go with a godevil. You can get a brand new stripped down basic rig for almost half the price. They all have a pointed bow for the timber. You'll have to deal with the foam getting water logged a few years down the road and rip it out. (Believe I've gutted 5 of them now) and sometimes get treated like shit by the receptionist when you call up there for parts but they are good boats and motors.
