I'm tired of my rear navigation light getting torn off, and I'm thinking about mounting an led strip on the rear of the motor. I've seen this done once or twice but I'm curious if it is legal? I plan on doing a few out of state hunts this year and don't want a game warden harassing me for something little.

something like this on top of your motor. they make some that aren't quite so tall, but it's only 3".

The stern/anchor light must be visible for 360 degrees. So if the light on the motor does that then you should not have any issues. Just FYI your port/starboard bow lights are 112 degree lights.

Spend the money on a max it out light and never look back. These things are indestructible and mounted with a ram mount. Any light mounted rigid I promise you I will break it off somehow. I went through those light weight aluminum ones every year it seemed. I've had the max it out for 4 years and its going strong and I have hit branches with it at 30 mph and it just flops out of the way.

nope.

Lot cheaper.....

Had it mounted on the Boat DR rain guard when it was on the briggs. Now on the kawi it is just mounted in on a plastic boat cleat I had laying around that I trimmed up a little....

Not sure any of them are legal due to the 360, but it is what I use..

I have the traditional pole light as well just in case I get called out on it.... It stays in the gun box.
