Building it....
I searched like a demon for the specific answers so please y'all; don't blast me... I'm building a short shaft mud motor, 18hp, belt drive, on probably a 12' flat bottom. I know that with long tails, transom height and shaft length relationship is very important, but on the short shaft I can make my belt housing whatever height I need so I'm not sweating that part. I'm needing two specific pieces of info: 1) is there a standard /better length for the prop shaft on a short tail setup and 2) when the engine is fully at rest and trim is bottomed out, what should the downward angle of the shaft be?
