I recently built/purchased a 1854 flat bottom mud hull with 3/16 bottom. I run mostly dead timber and cypress sloughs with an occasional coastal bay hunt. The boat is a beast and can take a beating but doesn't handle worth a flip at high speeds. Thinking about adding some angle on the back corners or bottom of the hull to help it hook. Has anyone else done anything like this. They can't be too long because I don't want to get hung on stumps when sliding off at slow speeds. Thanks |

Why not just slow down a bit while in turns? When the boat catches, then hammer down again. |

That is what I do for the most part when navigating through the woods. But sometimes taking curves on big water at fast speeds it still doesn't like to turn and when it starts to slide I really can't get it to turn |

try trimming down and/or backing off throttle a little, when the nose starts going the way you want, WFO and go!!!! |

My rig slides badly and has ribs on the bottom. I've learned to use some body English in tight turns at higher speeds. Using the weight of my body to tip the stern in the direction I want to turn. Seems to help a bit, but you really need a good stand up bar to steady your self when doing it. |

You need more tiller time. 95% of my running is in the same type of things you run and I always run wot. After a while you learn how soon to let off and when to get back into it. You also learn how your boat handles and how to ride the slide and bouncing out. |

Majority of mud boats slide when you turn. Nature of the beast. Just let off it alittle bit, it’ll bite and turn. Or learn how to drift and turn 30ft early lol. |

Add the angle towards the front in the rake. One piece will probably be sufficient. I can try to post a pic later for reference. |
