Post Dog ladder
Has anyone hunted with the gator trax dog ladder in the back built on the hunt deck ? And if so do you like it. I am thinking about ordering one and installing it on mine. Just wasn’t sure about it and I don’t want to buy it and install it and end up not using it. I’m new to hunting out of a boat and I bought one and it was poorly made and my 90 pound Chesapeake didn’t like it cause it didn’t have a solid hold on the boat while it was in the water.

I don’t think many people use them if they have a hunt deck. I see the utility for deep water and wonder the same thing. I’m having a boat built right now with a hunt deck and might do a permanent ladder with a hinge type set up. Let us know how it turns out with the trax ladder on the hunt deck... seems simple enough. My chessie is only 75lbs and still young enough to climb up over the side with a little help. Me not so much!

A friend of mine had it for his boat. We used my dog from his boat on numerous occasions and never once used the ladder. Dog ladders are a waste of time IMO. Just put your hand on the back of the dogs head as its paws come up on the hunt deck and it'll learn to push its neck and get its body up on the deck.

Yeah, that works, but I'd rather the dog climb in all by his lonesome and not go greet him where he's gonna shake. A couple steps are my preference.

I don't see the difference. I sit at the back, I take the bird from the dogs mouth at essentially the same spot as where I help him in anyways. it's really no extra effort but I don't have to pay for a dog ladder or carry that around. I've tried them, I don't like them.
