Post subject:  Weldbilt boats/ backwoods landing?

I’m boatless for now and looking around at what I’m going to get next. I want to buy new or nearly new but I don’t have a rich mans budget. I don’t ever want to buy someone’s used, torn-up junk again. I want to be the one to put the first scratch on it. I’ve been looking closely at the weldbilt boats from backwoods landing. 1856 Center console with a tunnel and a 50-75 tohatsu outboard is what I’ve been looking at. They seem like nice guys and have good customer service but I have read mixed reviews on them. The old saying “you get what you pay for” comes to mind and these boats are priced CHEAP.
Does anyone have any experience with a weldbilt boat that could give me an honest answer about their build quality and longevity?
Still also considering a brand new gdsd 37 on one of their 18 foot boats or a gatortail package but the weldbilt with some options added in is still cheaper.

I had a 1748 weldbilt that I custom ordered from Backwoods Landing. I ran a 27hp surface drive. I put about 50-60 hours on the motor and hundreds on the boat (bowfishing and hunting). I had no complaints. I've run g3, lowe, polarkraft, and a weldbilt. My opinion is the weldbilt is built a little better than the others as far as a production boat. It has more crimps in the bottom and more ribs on the inside. I never put any major dents in it or cracked any welds. I sold the boat to a friend who still runs it with a 25hp outboard.

I ran a .80 gauge 1842 tunnel with 40 mercy for many years and no issues.
If I’m not mistaken the tohatsu is made my merc. If it’s the three cylinder model it will scoot along pretty good in the mid 30’s with a tunnel.
