What happens if you get caught with a boat that has a bigger motor than it is rated for? Seems like a lot of people have it and I have it myself. Doesn't seem like a big deal to me but what about to the man?

I dont think it's an issue with a ticket as they usually dont check that, but the manufacturer or shop can get in trouble for installing overpower, and your insurance company can give you problems if there's ever an accident.

I was able to notify my insurance of what Motor I put on and they didn’t have a problem with it. That way it’s no extra run around if I ever have an incident.

If you google it, you can find plenty of places that make "replacement stickers/plates" that say whatever you want them to...

I "know a guy" who has a custom boat that didn't come with a rating sticker or plate, and an out of state warden wrote him a "fix it warning". Had 15 days to get it corrected. Googled it because the manufacturer doesn't provide them and he had one made. Problem solved. There's no way he could ever be over his HP rating now...

Here's an example of a site that can replace an old one. https://garzonstudio.com/boat/capacity-decal.html
