I run a 35 go devil surface drive on a 1654 go devil boat. Im having a problem with water coming over my transom when i come to an abrupt stop. will floaters fix this? how can i put them on without restricting my turning radius very much and does anybody know anyone that fabricates them in the dallas ft worth area? |

pods (floaters) will probably reduce the radius of that GDSD quite a bit. in my opinion, thats one of the good things bout the GDSD, the turn radius is super sharp. As for the pods helping draft, they will help get the rear of the boat out a lil but i would think it wouldnt be worth it. the outdrive on a GDSD is a lot longer than others so it may be more trouble. just my .02 |

Easiest way is you can do like most folks have done and learn to not stop so quick........  Or you can add some plate to either side of you motor and extend the transom height which will also stop most of the water from coming in. It won't affect turning and would be much cheaper than pods. Something similar to this but just made of some scrap plate would work. Would not have to be that big though. http://www.whitecapmfg.com/sample6.html |

my first 3 boats were short transom, and none of them floated as high as a 54" wide boat. I never had a problem with that. Just learn to stop slower, and get a good bilge pump. |

We have a legendcraft with the tapered transom. When we dropped the heavy 32hp pd on it, it dropped the ass end another 3 inches closer to the water. Even if you gradually slowed down, water would come in over the back. Got a guy in marshall, tx to put pods on for me. Did a great job, and seems to be a real stand up guy. I've had him do some other stuff for me since and he's always quick and reasonably priced. I'll send you some pics and his info if you want. I live over off ray hubbard. You just have to tell him what you want and he'll make somethin work for ya. He builds boats too. He's got lots of experience with pods and makin em work for ya. Oh and they add about 200 lbs of lift. Completely eliminated the backwash problem even going from wot to dead stop. |

I would try to find a way to put some pods on the back if I was you. You will just have to build them to fit your boat and the motors turning radius. They will just have to end up tapered toward the center of the boat. Each pod will give you 62.4 LBS of lift for every cubic foot of pod under water. If you can figure out a way to get two cubic feet of pod on the back you will gain 124.8 lbs of lift. That would be a big help for sure. Just be sure to taper them up as they go out so that you cans still get some bow lift too. Trey |

you must have an exceptionally heavy boat for some reason. Every boat that leaves the Gatortail shop has a cut back transom, as well as alot of the GoDevil boats. Most of them have big blocks on them, and alot of them are narrower than 54". Maybe try checking the flotation in the bottom of the boat and see if it's water-logged. That can add alot of extra weight. |

No flotation in mines. I don't know what else it could be. I know those boats where the shit when the mm's started to become popular some years back. The guy we bought it from had a 24 lt on it. We put the 32 pd on it and it just sunk the back end. The taper appears to be a lil more significant than the gt boats. But the gt boats are def built better. This one has the horizontal bracing too and that pd is puttin a hurtin on it. |
