North Texas
Hey Everyone,
I have just moved to the Dallas Area, and wanted to get some input between getting a surface drive and a long tail. I plan on using this boat to both hunt and fish the Red River and lakes around the DFA area. This would be my first mud boat and would appreciate any insight from the local Outdoors men between what would be the best selection

Re: North Texas
I would go with a surface drive because you have reverse. Personally, ever since I got my surface drive, I stopped using my long tail. Long tails have their function but I find them more purpose built for hunting than fishing. The surface drive is something in between, but unless you are going to run very shallow, a lot of mud, or vegetation/swamp, I would get an outboard for all around needs

Re: North Texas
Just bought my first boat and expect to be using it a lot from north of Dallas to east to Ar./La to south to Lake Charles. I'm an old guy, retired, 1644 Alweld w/ 23 hp Backwater.
