New on this site need some advice/suggestions. I am looking at having a boat custom built 18 or 19 foot. I will be hunting up to 4 guys and really need the room. What type mud motor would best serve me on a boat this size. I like the larger prodrive unit for the reverse feature. I am not interested in running 30 mph.
Also in having a boat built any specifications on the hull or other features that are a must?

Re: Boat question for 18 to 19 ft with mud motor
Test drive them all and see which you prefer for your needs.
every mud motor has its pros and cons like a ford, chevy, dodge etc just wat you like some have reverse some dont. i got a 45 hp mud buddy and its a piece of shit. when i buy, IF i buy another mud motor again it would have to be a pro-drive or a gator tail. just my 2 cents. dam thing spends more time at the shop then in the water. oh and when you buy one buy two so you can keep hunting, fishing, etc

Re: Boat question for 18 to 19 ft with mud motor
If you want to carry 4 guys or more, go with something like an 18-20 long 60 wide bottom. It will carry that load on plane with a 36 PD and be right at 18-20 mph. It will also have a shallow enough draft to allow easy starts in the shallows. We also make 66" and 72" wide models that can carry up to six and still plane with a stock motor.
Go long and go wide and get a boat designed to match up with a MM and you will be happy with the performace.
