Pirogue info
I'm looking at a Bayou Rapides Fiberglas 16' 6" flat bottom pirogue. Good, bad, stable? I know nothing about a pirogue, but I'm thinking about replacing his and hers kayaks with one. Any suggestions about builders, length, flat or round bottom, anything would appreciated.

Re: Pirogue info
Where is bayou rapides fiberglass located out of? I’ve got a 14’ , bottom is around 24-26” wide. Flat. I’ve had 2 guys and gear in before and plenty stable. I stand and push pole in mine also. 16’ should be more than stable. if it’s this company you’ll be happy.

I looked at this guys pirogues too. Nice boat and a little less $$. 14 Foot should do for what we need. The wife and I are getting older and not near as stable and sure footed etc ans we used to be.

Re: Pirogue info
Kirk, thanks for the recommendation. My wife got one for me/us for Christmas from Bayou Fiberglass. "J" was sold out but got us one made as soon as the weather let him. Very nice boat! All hand laid glass. "J" treated us great and was nice to do business with and I will have no problems giving he and his business as a recommendation. As far as stable it was a little wobbly for us at first but we got it figured out. Us not being Cajun might have had something to do with that. First trip out we caught a nice mess of sac-a-lait and a few big ol' shellcrackers, stayed upright and dry so it was a good trip!
