Re: Gator Trax Hunt Deck with Gator Tail 35
what im about to tell you has been posted up all over this site in one forum or another but having had both heres a little FYI:
in my opinion your best performance is going to be with a motor and boat from the same manufacturer or a custom builder that knows EXACTLY what motor you plan on using.
rounded chine will not be as maneuverable at idle and you wont reach the top end speeds (with or without) a load. that being said, a rounded chine will turn MUCH better at high speeds than the square. also when you run a ground in a rounded chine its much easier to slide off banks/ sandbars/ etc.
square chine is going to carry a load and run empty faster than the rounded. also at idle its much more manageable. however it can take alot more effort to slide around or get unstuck on "dry ground"/ sand. it WILL slide in a high speed turn, takes a bit more "practice" at high speed turning.
this is what ive experienced, good luck. if i were you i'd spend the money on a master's degree, arent they teaching you anything at LSU
