I have an Excel 1860 F4. What would be the best blind for this boat?

I just ordered my Excel 1854, and plan on using the MB Shaggy blind, as they are made to fit their boats pretty well. Have you looked at those, any reason you don't like them?

There`s some folks here on MMT that make some nice blinds.
I think one is called "Phantom". You might can search it,or search boat blinds.
I do like the Shaggy camo, but that Phantom is a nice frame.

Depends on your budget.

You can do anything from a homemade to a "custom" depending on price.

There is a decent one for a good price made by Pacific -It is called Duck Island. Not a "Great Blind" that will last you forever, but decent for the price and it is pretty adjustable to fit your boat. (similiar to Avery/Northern Flight the like). Easy to pop up.

Phowler boats builds custom (pm PW) and there is a custom builder on ebay I think. Phowler does hard side and soft side I think...

On the cheap side there is something called a flex blind that is pretty cheap.. Think they show up on Ebay...

Just depends on your usage (type of area you hunt/style of hunting), your budget, and your personal preference....

I know a guy in greenwood that can custom build me one. It will be hard to find an aftermarket blind that will fit the Excel with the F4 transom like I want it to. I like the looks of the shaggy blind but I want to block wind and rain if needed.

My buddy put the quick flip on his PD X2. It was a bitch to get it to fit. But once we got it it looked good. It took a lot of grass and limbs to get it to blend into the buck brush on the Mississippi, but we slaughtered the ducks and didn't get wet in the rain. Would I spend the money for it, probably not, but I like my cheap avery. I have camo netting on it and then grass it up real good when I get to my hunting spot. Then late season I fold it up, no grass and put a big spread out in front of it. Then i hunt about 500 yrds away in the grass with 3 deks. Those ducks fly over the big spread then come over to me.

Between myself and my buds you will see a Quickflip, a Beavertail and a snow shaggy (my blind). We have hunted in each other's boats at various times for years. and we know them well. They all have their advantages and their disadvantages. If you make a trip over to N. Idaho you can look at them all.

Overall, I would say Quickflip if I was to do it over (I have owned a couple of Quickflips on other boats). But on a snowy day, my snow shaggy is quite the hide. The terrain and hunt conditions of North Idaho do not require a grass blind or standard shaggy. You are hunting up in the weeds for about two weeks into the season, until the water drops, then you are pulled in against a rocky and tree-lined bank somewhere.

We hunted a few really rainy days this year in my buddy's Quickflip-equipped Gatortrax (a former boat of mine) where we were darn glad to have the overhead rain cover.
