 boat blind build help
i found pictures of this blind on another forum and I want to build one. The problem is I can't figure out how to make it collapse inside the boat by looking at the pictures. Here are the pictures i found. Can any of you help me with the design?

 Re: boat blind build help
It looks like the in the front he is using that piece of allminum at a angle as a brace to hole it up. I wopuld assume if you have it fatened with like a D snap ring simmilar to the ones they use in layout blinds you would pull the and the top and side would collapse. It also looks like they pivot on the piece that goes across the middle in a simmilar way. usally a snap pin to hold into place. Its hard to describe over the computer. I have built a couple that look similar to this they are really easy

 Re: boat blind build help
I think I've figured out how to get it to fold. Would it be similiar to a folding table? But the only way I can think of to get the sides to collapse and not hang out of the boat is with some sort of telescopic design and all that would be too complicated to set up in the field.

 Re: boat blind build help
dedpending on wide your boat is will dictate the hight of the blind. i built one on a 36" btm boat, the sides hung over about 5 or 6". but that was to make it comfortable to sit on the bench

 Re: boat blind build help
Looks like there is a piece of flat metal on what I would call the foot of the down pole of the taller side. It could have a pin that holds it in place and be removed for taking down. It slides toward the center of the boat with some sort of hinge on the smaller A frame brace that flattens out as the leg goes inward. Could be accomplished with some biminy top hardware I am sure.

 Re: boat blind build help
mine is built out of 3/4 emt conduit. the brackets in the second pic are 3" x 3" x1/4" ss flat bar with a 2" long 1/4-20 ss bolt welded to it, total of 2. they are screwed to the face of the bow deck and the rear bench, on the center line of the boat. they are the pivot point of the blind frame. the pieces in the third pic are 1/2 emt for the uprights to hold the frame up, ( i tried straps but they were in the way, this worked better for me). i ty-rapped burlap to the toprail and ty-rapped it to the bottm of the inside ribs, then ty-rapped fast grass to the burlap. the blind goes up and down in just a few minutes. hope this helps

 Re: boat blind build help
I built one for my boat with 3/4 emt also, but instead of mounting the main frames to the middle of the boat and having them fold down to the sides, I mounted the main frame legs to the sides of the boat and made the frames long enough to fold down to the opposite side of the boat. It folds up and down like a scissors with several holes drilled through the frame legs where you can put a quick pins through the legs to hold it up at different heights. The higher you raise it the smaller the opening at the top. Very quick to put up and take down. I just made some brakets to mount the legs to and use 1/4 quick pins to mount everything. No bimini top fittings to buy. Sorry I don't have any pics of it right now.
