What do you guys with poling platforms use as far a pushpoles? I saw Cabelas just came out with a new 17' one that collapses and only weighs 5 pounds but there are no reviews on it. I'm looking for one 17-20' but don't want to pay $800 for a Stiffy brand that I would use once a year. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ ... jsp.form23 Godevil has a 18' aluminum one for $150 but I heard they are heavy. I have no idea, that's why I wanted to ask. I was thinking about the possibility of a two piece aluminum one with 2 different sizes of pipe and a pin/bolt to hold them together but also let them collapse down for storage. What do y'all think? I am just looking for something long enough to work off my platform, not extremely heavy or cumbersome to store. I would only use it occasionally to sight fish the marsh for redfish. Thanks |

i had a GoDevil Pushpole and loved it. I lost it on a lake while running through a bunch of brush. Wish I still had it. They aren't that heavy and are super strong. Ide say they weight about 10 lbs, but that's just e guessing. |

if you are going to be poling you need at least a 20' or you are going to wear yourself out with a short pole. |

I've used a Richmar for several years on my Fatboy and have been very pleased with it. They are tough as hell, but sink like a stone if you drop them. http://www.richmarsports.com/Pushpole_Products.html |

GatorTrax makes a good all welded push pole, too. They are in Springfield. I think this pole might be very similar to the Go Devil pole. Mudbuddy or Excel or BPS (not sure which one) has a nice cast aluminum foot that you add / weld your own pole too...could customize to the length you want. I have a GatorTrax style pole my buddy made for me. |

I have a 22ft Stiffy Hybrid Graphite Pole. It's very light and works like a charm on my 18ft Ranger skiff. They are alittle pricey if you buy them NEW. I found mine for $400!! It retailed for around $900!!! Look around on some of the fishing forums on the net and you can find them used. |

I bought the Gator Foot from Cabalas and a 16 foot wooden pole from Home Depot. Works great kinda heavy but cheap, paid $70 for the whole thing. |

I stopped at the Kief Hardware in Cutoff and they had that collapsable pole Cabelas sells. It is a really nice pole and I found a new favorite store. That place has everything. |

Go cut a piece of bamboo to the length you want. It will last a lifetime. I have used a bamboo push pole since I was 20 and I am 40 now. If it breaks, cut down another one. |

I got a long wooden dowl from lowes, fiberglassed it, and put a foot on it. It dont collapse but it lays down against the side of the boat and works like a champ. |
