Post Transom HELP!
Just got a new budget rig put together...1544 jon with 29 horse hyper drive...runs great but too heavy of motor for boat.when running solo have to have two batteries up front to keep front down, having pods built to solve that.main problem is transom is too weak for the motor.want to replace the wood on transom due to dry rot but don't want to remove rivets on the floor, have braces running from floor to transom.took a piece of 1/8 steel and bolted on back side of transom it helped but problem not solved any other ideas?seems like top 5 inches is what moves wich is where the braces stop....

Take it to a fab shop and have em rebuild the transom out of alum.

Consider selling it and buying true MM hull ???

Those jons only have .060 to .090 thick skins and just
aren't built tough enough to take the kind of abuse
a MM dishes out....

Sell her and buy a good used .125 thick mudhull to get
the full performance out of your motor....

X2 I have had the same result and it is best to sell the jon boat and take that money with the repair money and buy a good used mudboat.
