The only thing is it is a v bottom fishing boat that I have turned into a really nice duck boat but do you think that will matter thanks

you will not get the best performance from a surface drive on a v hull

What width is your 16 ft boat? When I bought my 36 Prodrive it was on a 16x48 G3 modified v.While it didnt perform like a long slick flat boat it still ran 28.My advice is-either sell your whole rig as a package and get what works best,or-buy a 35-36 hp now and upgrade boats later.Dont get a small motor now or you will regret it later.

If I could sell my rig and be able to get a new duck rig I would bc I hunt ducks 55 days out 60 or more and I hate having to get out and push boat through muck that is up past my nuts and plus I'm going to college so having to pay for a good boat would be hard. So I'm hoping the motor will do the trick for now till I can upgrade to a true duck boat

I run a 32 hp PD on a 16 x 54 tracker. It is by no means a flat bottom but it has gotten me every where that I have wanted to go in the areas that I hunt in MO, without any trouble. I like the fact that it is a little lighter which makes it easier to push when I run it aground on hard bottoms. Because it is a little lighter, I had to weld on a trim tab to get the nose down when getting on step. Sometimes, when a motor isn't matched to the boat, you have do do a bit of fabrication to make your particular set-up work for you, but for me that's 1/2 the fun. Monkey around with what you've got till you get it dialed in.
