 reg transom to huntdeck
Is it possible to take a say 18' boat and make it a huntdeck with 17' on the inside? Im not talking about adding a deck extended onto the original length. Im saying keep the original length and just loosing a foot of floor space. If so is it easy or would it be expensive to do? Would a sport back be better then a huntdeck? Thanks guys!

Anything is possible. Sounds expensive, but you'd have to call around to some welders to know for sure. I wouldn't trust someone who hadn't built some boats before to do that kind of work on mine. What are you hoping to accomplish? If its just backwash, its probably cheaper to have your transom built up and get a tall transom kit for your motor.

Jason, send me a picture of your boat. As long as it isn't made of paper thin alum, it should benable to be done. If is paper thin, it could still be done, but just won't have siffeciant strength. PM me a picture
or we can do like old school said. Make two fishing pods with a splash well in the middle.

I'm talking about an 18' gatortail. Someone has one for sale but I really want a huntdeck. It's already a tall transom. The price is right on the boat and if it isn't to expensive then this may be the way to go for me.

Jason are you looking at the boat from Iowa? I was thinking about doing that but by the time you pay for the shipping and pay to get a hunt deck placed, you could almost buy a brand new one.
