Don't use a hammer it's pointless when u hit it acts like a torsion bar. I'm not sure how the sd props are out on but if it's the same way take the first nut off and loosen the second a turn or two. Then take a pry bar or crow bar put it behind one of the blades and in front of the but resting on the outer edge of the nut. Then pull backwards on the pry bar so that it is putting the force on the inside of the blade it should pop loose like that fairly easily. If you don't understand shoot me a pm and I will send you some pictures showing what I mean.

i took off the back nut on the shaft. placed a medium sized pipe wrench on the prop with a cheetah pipe, held tension on the nut behind the prop with a adjustable wrench and cheetah pipe and had my dad pull on the pipe wrench to loosen the prop and spin off. go on the go devil we site and download the owners manual they have a section in there on the proper way to remove the prop. i put the prop back on with marine grade never sieze.

Spend the $50.00 and get the prop wrench from go-devil it works great. I removed one w/o it and swore i would never do it again. Just bought the wrench and removed 2 and its very easy.

White1 - just curious, was yours that you described a single trip "flame out"
over sand or oysters ???

The method I described is for wear that takes 30 to 60 hours to get in our
semi-sandy mud over here in many back to back trips....

Another parameter is Rpms - I usually turn 3600 on a new prop with a stock
motor on a new 3 blade - with a little wear rpms rise to 3700 to 3800 and
the gps starts marking the highest wot speeds - when she starts pulling
close to 4000 then mud performance and speed are reduced - at 4100
plus it is done....

Of course the rig weight and loads and mods make a big difference on
the wot in the water rpms - but once you know "your rig" you can get
a good idea on prop wear from your rpms as well as your tape measure....
