 MB outdrive seal question?
Pulled the prop and there is water behind the seal, which I assume is not right. The seal has what looks like spiral grooves in it, and there is some brown shit in the grooves that looks like old seaweed or grass or something. Bet that is not what it is supposed to look like? Question is, if I keep it lubed and pump out the old grease, any reason to buy new parts? Motor is MB 45 HD Sport, 2007, 83 hours. can't figure out how to post pics from the phone.

 Re: MB outdrive seal question?
if you think the seal is bad replace it... easy fix... and much better than replacing or rebuilding the whole outdrive.. you can also get the line/grass cutter washer from MB to put behind the prop...

If I keep it greased, is there a risk? I assume it I from corrosion to the out drive? The old grease was definitely contaminated. What is the seal gonna cost?

 Re: MB outdrive seal question?
Boat Dr keeps the whole rear seal cap in stock. Just remove prop, remove rear seal cap (reverse threads), replace with new cap & you're done. I think they're like $42, but that's still better than having to replace each individual seal inside the cap.

 Re: MB outdrive seal question?
I remember talking to you about it, but refresh me. Was your stock lever broken? Mikuni or stock carb?

 Re: MB outdrive seal question?
I'm running a modified stock lever & like it alot better than the BPS lever I had on my last motor. I don't remember who it was that posted the pics of it (think it was DB8), but I wouldn't want it any other way now. Squeeze the throttle to wide open & zip tie it like that. Take a knife or something sharp & etch along the handle where it's on the "square" part. Take a Dremel tool & cut off the square corner so it won't be into your hand anymore. I'll try to go take some pics of it & post em for you.
