Post Getting stuck
So I'm getting waaaay back into the shallows just fine with my new rig, but we have to push the boat to get out. Any tips/tricks to get some momentum and break free with a surface drive?

Thanks

I'd say semi hard bottom...1-4 inches of silt then 4-8 inches of water in places.

if you hunt the same area over and over, spend some time blowing out a ditch with your prop in the same spot about the length of your boat. i have a gtr and do it by backing up and going forward, but with out reverse it will just take you a while longer to blow out a ditch then push it back and do it again, always take off in that same spot.

when you take off in the ditch, gap it wide open and let it get on step and then you are good to go.

Unless you sink up to above your knees or better, the boat will struggle to take off in that.
The prop has to be submerged completley in the mud/water and if it is thick or hard you will have alot of drag holding you back.

Go get stuck and sooner or later you will learn the limitation of your rig.

If you don't have room for donuts but the boat is floating free hit the gas and when the water is gone let off, wait for the water to come back, it will push and lift the back of the boat slightly, full throttle when you feel the rise and push.

That motor produces enough torque, you should trim down, gas it to about 3k-3500 rpm, & it should start to walk out. Then gradually trim up to keep momentum going & gain speed.

Just grabbing it & going wot is only gonna blow out the hole & leave you with nothing to bite on.

That don't always work on a hard bottom, if it washes out, let off and let the water come back then gas it.

All great advice. One last thing: If you haven't already gotten a winch, get one!

yep. The bigger the anchor, the less it buries itself too. It is a good idea to drill a hole in the the palm of the anchor and attach a line and float to it. That way you can pull the anchor out backwards if it is really stuck, or leave it marked and return to retrieve it when the tide comes in.

You ain't doing nothing with a silty hard bottom but eating a prop. Hard silty bottoms are the devil for these motors, you keep revving it up your only eating your prop. Just when you come in the flat in the mornings come in the same way everytime, you'll eventually eat yourself a ditch, If you can afford another prop get down on it and dig yourself a hole
