If it pulls towards u. Bend it away. The same way the torque tab is facing.

Boat pulls to the right. So I'm thinking bend to the right cuz when I had a gtr and it pulled to the left Hoyt said bend to the left. I'm confused and came in pretty confident

if the motor is pushing up against you then looking at the rear of the motor you would bend the tab to the left if the motor is pulling on you then looking at the back of the motor you would bend the tab to the right.

Not questioning your skills but is the motor placement dead center on the transom?

Its just that i have never heard of someone bending the skeg to the right on a mudmotor, prop torque usually sends it left if your standing at the back looking at the prop, Not saying it hasn't been done its just that i have never seen or heard of it being done. Let us know what you come up with.

If the boat pulls to the left, looking at prop u bend to left because when running through water it acts like ur turning right, same thing when boat pulls to the right

Post Re: Torque
Lets simplify this discussion: To turn your boat starboard, you would push your tiller to port. That makes your skeg move to starboard, because the skeg goes in the opposite direction of the tiller. Thrust is then diverted to starboard, and the bow of the boat goes in the direction of the rediversion of thrust.

If your boat wants to turn to starboard, it must mean the torque is causing the thrust to be diverted to starboard. If you bend your skeg to starboard, that is going to create drag on the starboard side of the planing surface of the lower unit, and push the skeg, and therefore the propshaft, more to port. This should have the effect of rediverting thrust from starboard to port, allowing the tiller to be impacted from the port to starboard, and allowing the bow of the boat to follow the rediversion in inverse proportion to the total negative increase in port thrust, thereby elminating the boat's tendency to pull starboard due to the torque at prop.

Easy, starboard, errrr, right?

Wow

Man this got way off track. Ok a buddy of mine was at the house drinking beer. He told me he needs to bend his rudder that the boat pulls to the right. I told him well cut 2 lines 3 inches apart n the rudder and bend it to the right. He starts to argue. I say watch I'll prove it and made this post thinking I would get a quick reply. It turned n to this. How do none of u know which way to bend ur skeg? Except for jimmy
