 Prodrive upper lu bearing
Think this is going to be my issue. Talked to Peck and he said I could do it myself and it would save me quite a bit of cash too. Anyone ever done this and have any advice to pass along b4 I get started? Thx Old style lower... 06 model

I would take the advice and instruction you received from Peck and postpone using any advice given here.

I didn't get a whole lot other than put it back like you take it apart. It's already forked up so I guess I can't lose much

 Re: Prodrive upper lu bearing
Did you tell him it was the old style LU. This is the issue that they usually reccomend getting a new unit for. They told me that once the upper bearing goes on the old style the shaft wears and the bearing never seats right. I had an 06 with same problem. They gave me a break on new LU. $600 verses almost a grand.

 Re: Prodrive upper lu bearing
Yeah I told him and he looked up the pd# and said yep this is the older unit. He never mentioned a new lower or gave that to be an option. I was rdy to send it in but he said I could probably just do it myself if I wanted so I'm gonna try. He also never mentioned anything about the shaft either. Said just to call him if I hit a snag.

 Re: Prodrive upper lu bearing
I was going to do mine myself but decided to send it to Peck and upgrade the lower to the grease style and let them go through the entire unit (which also adds warranty if they do the work, one year on new parts and 6 months on the repair) Glad I did, my upper bearing hadn't gone bad, it spun on the shaft and dug a grove so we had to repalce the upper shaft also. Peck said it was the first time he'd ever seen one do that.
But if it is a normal bearing failure, I would think it would be similar to changing a wheel bearing as far as work. It has a press in seal similar to the inner seal on a wheel and the bearing sits just behind it.
