 PD 2007 manual reverse stuck
Yesterday I burnt out another clutch. Today before getting ready to pull the engine I figured to test my reverse. Sure glad I tried it in the driveway as it turned about 30* and stuck. A bad few days for this old guy. The clams we ate today from yesterday cost about $8 each haha. BTW when the clutch bearing went to hell and the PTO switch took a dump I got the 1/2 mile back to the ramp using the momentary switch at an idle. I hardly ever use reverse and run in salt water only so I guess its locked up with rust?

Being that the unit is 7 years old, when you pull the power head to replace the clutch, it would be wise to tale apart the reverse assembly and clean out all that old grease and junk.

X2. I would also look over all wire connections for corrosion

Re: PD 2007 manual reverse stuck
If the reverse is moving then your ahead of the game. What I normally do is trim the motor up or down a good bit and use a thin oil/lubricant like WD-40 or some type of penetrating oil to wash it out with. The tilt of the motor will help the oil puddle on top the reverse plate under the clutch. ( don't go crazy with it just enough to make a nice puddle, but not enough to run down the drive shaft compartment ( to much and it can soak into the bearings and cause other issues). Then remove the pull pin or lock it open with a nut or some kind of spacer. Work the lower unit by hand back and forth spraying oil as needed until you can get a full 360 rotation. Then you can grease it.

Re: PD 2007 manual reverse stuck
Thanks again, after pulling the engine I took the complete reverse apart. Lots of rust so that will be an easy fix. I hardly use reverse and that is probably why it happened, along with salt water.
