Post cracked drive shaft tube on 04 mud buddy
well i guess it could be worse but a week before closer I noticed that a small amount of grease was seeping out right above where the lower skeg is welded to the driveshaft tube on the lower unit . cleaned it up best i could with brake cleaner wire brushed it and put a small spot weld at what appeared to be a small depression like from to much heat on a weld . after the closer i noticed even more of a weep of grease and the small hole has turned into a crack . I called justin at mudbuddy and he told me basicly they have had that problem before and that i would have to up grade to a newer style for 545 I dont think that would even count the prop but could be wrong . Has anyone out there delt with this problem and what fix did t you use . I know I could take it apart clean it up drill a hole at the end of the crack and tig weld it but i dont know if it would be worth the effort ? any info would be greatly appriciated. ;)

that's pretty much MB's M.O.

seems they may have finally got all their issues fixed, but until they did they used their customers as R&D and let them foot the bill. sucks for you now, good luck.

If you go w/ the new style...they can supply w/ the new hex shaft or the threaded which would allow you to use your current prop...if it were me...I'd go w/ the hex for ease of prop changing in the future....although the threaded is easy enough so long as you use NEVER SEEZ 8-)
