2 blade vs 3 blade test.
Boat 1662 gatorhide with some changes... 6 gallons gas, 1 batt, scissors blind, misc crap Motor 2014 PD E2 EFI with hydro reverse. Me: ~215 lbs.
3 blade prop:
max speed 26.5 mph empty, rough water, ~ 3-6 feet Add 850 lbs max speed 22.2 and really stuggled to get on plane. added another 200lbs 8mph plowing unable to get on plane.
Changed to 2 blade prop.
was able to get 1050lb load on plane, max speed 21.5 mph.
Here's where I f'd up. Went out to rough water and took on a bunch of water, and spilled a lot of the water I was using for ballast.
Added 200lbs (1250 total +me) and could not get on plane though it was right there....
Checked the HD and it was full of water, probably 3+ inches deep. Dropped 200lbs, couldn't get on plane anymore, dropped another 200lbs and still could not plane. Thus ended testing for the day.
I think I would have planed the last test load if not for the water in the HD. To me it appears the 2 blade is worth about another 250 lbs of load carrying capacity.
I don't care about top speeds. If I can't plane a heavy load to me it's worthless.

Hey, DN,
I'm with you--getting on plane is the name of the game. Did you notice any difference in tiller torque or turning ability between the two?
I'm still curious to know if one is better in the rice.

V:
Not much difference in vibration. Can definitely feel the difference in pull on acceleration. I guess you can feel it, not such that it is uncomfortable.
You should see how low the river is. Was pretty roug with this wind., I had to hide in the cute behind polock point to find smooth water.
Crap ton of birds, around.

Re: 2 blade vs 3 blade test.
With Stage 1 on 35GTR pushing my Southfork Custom 18x46 side console, 2 people(375lbs) 2 dogs(50+), 105 yeti loaded, 2-6 gal tanks, with 2 blade (marked MB 12.25x10) and 3 blade(marked MB 12.3X9) I saw about 1 mph faster with 3 blade and less vibration. All in deep water. My best trim with 2 blade doesn't throw much rooster tail, with 3 blade best trim a little more roster tail. My bow pushes water, the little lady always sits up front about 3 ft from bow(that were the front seat was mounted when buying the boat).
BTW at tops speeds I have to turn slightly left with motor to go straight!

Interesting that your 3 blade is bigger diameter than the 2 blade.

I thought that too, but compared to stock GTR blade both were bigger and more cup, 2 blade 29mph, 3 blade gave me 30mph, and haven't run stock prop since doing mods. Both are hitting rev limiter when WFO. Today I set throttle stop but haven't run it yet.

Re: 2 blade vs 3 blade test.
DN, you need to at least put a set of heads on that motor. thats a heavy rig your pushing. if / when you do some mods to it try a hammer, i run one on my hide and the whole shot is great. shallow, deep, light load or heavy, it doesn't matter. its a shame PD doesn't make a longer outdrive, that would help with your wide rig. I'm like you, the speed contest doesn't matter to me. i want all around performance under a heavy load. all these guys you see posting high speeds during the summer with their tin can boats get passed up by my tank durning the season. especially doublebanded

I didn't think 30 was fast light loaded! Seeing that my other flat bottom goes 47.3mph with 9 people in it!
