 Belt Housing Length
My 1648 Alumacraft has a 16" transom. My 31 hp GT is sitting flat on top and the lower end of the belt housing is approx 3 1/2 - 4 inches higher than the bottom of the boat. Is this where it should be or is it still too low? Is this possibly causing the tiller torque I'm getting? Havent got a lot of ride time to experiment with weight distribution yet, but plan to soon. Both batteries are already port side and one is inside the middle seat. If i need to shift the motor over, fine, but before I get into moving the motor over, I wanted to make sure it's not too low. I have a transom extension if I need to raise it up and cant imagine it needing to be lower.
Could one of you GT extrordinares look at the relationship of your belt housing bottom end and the bottom of your boat and see where they are? I would greatly appreciate it.
