Prop Balancing...How long does it last?
The reason I ask is this afternoon I was installing a new clutch cover on my GT. When I got it on I started the motor and flipped the switch to make sure I didnt have anything rubbing. With the prop spinning, I noticed a slight loping of the end of the shaft housing, so I flipped it back to neutral and it went away. It's obvious my prop is out of balance (its a brand new LU, less than 20 hours on it).
I'm not opposed to having the prop worked on, but how long is the balancing going to last? I dont run stumps or rock, just alot of grass and relatively hard bottom mud. If I'm just going to need it done again in a year, is it worth the price of having it done? I realize being out of balance is also putting added stress on bearings/seals, so which is more cost effective? Rebuild LU every three-four years, or rebalance every year?

Re: Prop Balancing...How long does it last?
first stump u hit, first mud flat u run, u just wore the prop and i is no longer in balance.
just run the hell out of it and have fun. when u hit the rev box or performance is terrible get another prop.
worriy-ing about a half a mile a hour or a little shake here and there defeats the purpose of a mudmotor. lol
