I have a 2007 Mud Buddy Hyperdrive with the original trim. Would like to know what the upgraded trim would be? Thompson trim or Mercury trim?

Thanks deadbird. Proly go with the Thompson trim. Mercury trim upgrade is really nice but outta my price range. Is the Thompson unit a direct bolt on to the factory mount or does it come with new mounting plates and what have you?

Looked at your picture- that's not an '07, its older than that. The '07's had tan powder coat on the frame and came with the Thompson trim.

That unit looks like the original trim before the Bear/Thompson models. Give BoatDr a call to find out your options with that old actuator (504)-737-1203.

Alright I'll give the boat dr a call. Plan on upgrading to a bigger motor after duck season. But bought it to get by for this season but still would like to have better working trim. It works if u push down on the tiller handle and take the weight off the trim unit then it moves up and down like a electric shock except the bottom isn't connected to anything and just moves up and down in the bracket.

I feel ur pain SH. My damn trim is acting up now a week b4 duck season starts. I tried to trim it down and it just kept clicking(it was trimmed all the way up). I pushed down on the handle a few times and it finally went down. I have it in a good spot so I'm not gonna trim it up til I can get a new one.

Mine works if I push down on the handle and take weight off of the trim but it just clicks if I leave the motor weight on it...

Mine works too but I can tell its on the way out.
