 Anyone ever had this happen?
Well i using using my motor yesterday morning running traps and i put the motor in reverse like i always do. Once the motor was locked in reverse, i gave it a little gas and all of a sudden i heard a pop and had no way to steer the boat. When i would turn the tiller, the top half of the motor would move but the lower unit would not move. Then this morning while messing with the motor, the lower unit fell off! Not sure if this had happened to anyone else but looking to see if anyone would know what broke. The gear on top of the lower unit has metal shavings all over it but not sure where its coming from. (Posted a video to demonstrate). http://youtu.be/U9ogiF35xoA

Re: Anyone ever had this happen?
You broke all 6 of the tower bolts. Where is the spacer that is supposed to be in the housing? It sits in between the lu, and the reverse plate, big silver sleeve.

It could still be in the other half of the motor. I would have to go look

Also suposed to be a teflon sleeve in the bottom and the top of the housing. Doesnt look like there's one in the bottom.

Re: Anyone ever had this happen?
And just fyi, that powerheAd is not secured anymore. The plate its bolted to was bolted to the lower unit and thats what holds it all together. That powerhead can be knocked off pretty easily as it sits, so dont shake it around too much.

Re: Anyone ever had this happen?
There is six (or four) bolts that go through the reverse plate, through the spacer (if it's there), and then into the lower unit. They're obviously no longer attached to the lower unit, so there is nothing holding the rest of that stuff together. Are the bolts broken off in the lower unit? Have you ever disassembled this thing? Look up in the tower housing, you should be able to see what's going on.

Re: Anyone ever had this happen?
Never disassembled it but i can see 4 bolts that dont look broken from the top of the powerhead. The powerhead is just real loose. Gonna bring it to prodrive to have em look at. The spindle that drives lower unit seems stripped as well. Ill take a better look at it tonight

Re: Anyone ever had this happen?
Strap all that shit to the tower housing before you take off down the road with it.

Re: Anyone ever had this happen?
With the rough ass roads yall have there, I'd damn sure have a few straps holding that thing together.
