I recently bought my first surface drive, and after about a month of minor issues we took the lower unit off and discovered that the shaft was bent. This would have been a fairly simple fix except prodrive does not carry the shaft. And after working on it to make it worse, we cracked the housing. Any advice on getting parts?

probably have a gen 1 lower on a 2003. My 2007 is still running the Gen 2 lower (oil filled). I considered swapping to the grease filled lower and Peck told me a while back that to swap out the lower was about $265. I would consider swapping out the entire lower outdrive section and it should bolt right up. Here is the 2010 grease filled lower that I was going to swap to. What is bent?

How in the hell did you bend that one?

All four bolts going in the housing were broke form the previous owner not securing the motor while going down the road. It was like that when we bought it, it still ran but we didnt realize that it wasnt quite right. Now we are kind of screwed.

That's the drive shaft, I would think that given you have a PD frame, that you could contact PD and they could sell you one. You would just have to give them the serial number on the frame. I do know first hand that you can't buy a frame, but they will sell you parts. have you tried calling them?

Check out this older thread when I was looking for a broken shaft. Thought about getting one made for my Gen 2 lower that had a hex or spline shaft so I could try different props with this kawi. Int the thread, CB (clay), mentioned that he had the top shaft and not the drive shaft. You may be able to buy it from him if he still has it.

He can have it if he wants it. It's still laying in the garage. But he's cracked the housing too, and I don't have one of those to give away. I do have a gen 1, oil from top to bottom, lower I may be willing to part with.

Yeah, I was just going through some old threads and remembered that. there was another who had a gen 2 lower (entire assembly) who swapped out to newer but I couldn't find that thread.
