Hammer will get on plane quick but is about 2mph slower.

Gnspeed is right. I run a fat blade on my GTR 40, which is almost identical to the hammer and it is a couple slower on the top end but the holeshot is second to none and it carries a load extremely well

Yes you can run a hammer on the new 40 with no problems. Some people say they can turn them with stick 37s, I call BS on being able to turn it effectively on the stock 37’s.

What rpm is concidering luging motor? I think most stock Big Block Briggs build their best power between 3600-3800 rpm.

Re: hammer on hdr 40 efi?
I can run my Hammer upto the 4700 rpm rev. limiter in my coils, but very seldom do it. My motor is getting some hrs. on it and I want it to last a few more seasons. I run 3800-4000 rpm . Going to try a Rapture this summer, to see how it does. Motor is 45 mag. with BPS internals and heads.

Instead of the raptor, run a mercury rapid. You will thank me for this information lol

Re: hammer on hdr 40 efi?
Tried a Mercury 3 Bld, was on rev. limiter at about 2/3 throttle. Thought maybe raptor with its 1" extra pitch may help. My rig is very light, and takes very little to plane it.

Re: hammer on hdr 40 efi?
The merc 3 blade and the merc rapid are two completely different props. The rapid is a 12 pitch out the box if I remember correctly
