Gatortail Cast Lower... What prop are you running?
I have a gatortail 37HP - Stock. with the cast lower, just curious what prop options are out there, what are you running and how do you like it? Typical carrying conditions, speed, holeshot, etc.

For that engine, I would run the powertec 2 blade, which a lot of people called the “old Gatortail two blade”. You can run a merc 2 as well but you won’t be able to turn it if you pitch it up. The only 3 blade I would run on a stock 37 would be the powertec 3 that came with gatortails from the factory. Stay away from the merc 3, hammer, or fat blade, because we have found that a stock 37 has trouble turning them unless the pitch is reduced. You may be able to run a rapid with success but I haven’t had a customer run a rapid on a stock 37 so I don’t know what results you would get with it

Gator Tail doesn't recommend running a 2 blade prop with the cast lowers. Reason being is that the 2 blade props are more prone to be out of balance. This can cause the cast lowers to crack. Your best bet is to run the Power Tech 3 blade prop. I would still send the prop to Baggy to have him sharpen the leading edge and balance it.

Yes, they are the stock props from Gator Tail. Since your engine doesn't have any modifications that's your best bet. Only option you really have to see a very slight improvement would be to have Baggy balance it and sharpen the leading edge. Unless you add performance modifications you really won't see any noticeable gains. I understand some people don't like changing the internals but at the least I would have the heads worked, add a better flowing exhaust, and have it tuned properly.
