 Did I go to big?
I run a 35 hp Beavertail long tail on a 16’ Seminole Bateau. Just rebuilt everything from the motor back. Before I was running a worn out stock 9x6 Beavertail prop. I was turning it up to 4350 rpms solo and bass fishing rods, tackle, etc. running 21-22 mph and turning the same RPM but running 20-18 mph with another guy depending conditions. When I rebuilt everything I went with a 9x8 backwater prop. I took it gator hunting and with me, the wife, and brother in law, 55 quart knock off yeti I could hardy turn 3600 rpms. I understand that’s a good load and my brother in law was on the bow. I still have to do more testing. Solo runs, two guys, three or more play with weight distribution and what not. But thinking I either need to step down to a 9x7 or swap props depending on what I am doing and the load I am carrying.

Re: Did I go to big?
Try a quick solo run with no gear - if it runs strong and fast with full RPMs you can eliminate a setup or mechanical issue... Each inch of pitch makes a pretty big difference though you are likely just a bit over pitched...

Re: Did I go to big?
I tried a 9 x 8 and a 9 x 6 and ran the same RPMs with both but lost 6 miles an hour between the two. I don’t know if the throttle linkage issue governor issue fuel as. But to not gain any RPMs and lose speed baffles me

Re: Did I go to big?
Agreed u would be best to step down a bit, that 9x8 is a chunk of meat on a stock motor

Re: Did I go to big?
No clue if godevil props are interchangeable with your set up but I have a 9x7 threaded godevil prop in my garage in good condition if you want to try it.

Re: Did I go to big?
So I did some math and another test run
The old prop I was turning 4350 RPMs and top speed was around 21 almost 22 mph
New prop. Test run I did today was 21 but only at 3700 rpms. So same speed as my old prop less RPMs
Before I was chasing speed but it’s a longtail.... I got two thoughts
Run the 9x8 when I am fishing and want speed and usually solo
Run the 9x6 or maybe step down to a 9x5 for when I really load it down hunting
OR just spend the money on a surface drive
