I am on my 5th prop with my current 35 GDSD and the longest it has taken me
to change any of them was about 15 minutes - before I got a prop removal tool
and I have never had to put any heat to any of them even though I run pure
salt water marshes.... Now I do put a good marine grease on the threads
before I spin the new prop on there - and usually swap or change props
at least twice a year for one reason or another cause in summer I slip on
a 2 blade and in winter the 3 blade.... Those 2 blades last a lot longer for
some reason or another I have about 90 hours on the one I am running now
counting the hours from the previous summer usage....

But even if you do put heat to them - like I have had to do with my older LT - all
you do is rig a water flow across the prop nut to keep from heating the shaft
and damaging a seal - never went hot enough to make it glow but just hot enough
to cause a "spit back" when you spit on it... One or two heat and cool cycles
broke them free with no shaft or seal issues at all.... And 200 to 300 degrees
is no where near hot enough to change metalurgy specs....

Mountain out of a molehill - BBlades has had the hex adapters for a while for the GDLT
when running their prop - FYI for anyone who is interested on the longtails....

Simple question.....who gives a fuck how long it takes to change a gd prop? You don't own one so what is the issue.

False advertisement is the problem. Gd owners act like everything is a cake walk if you own a gdsd.

Giga did you say the 11" gd 2 blade was faster? Need a new one but hate to drop 260 on one. Anybody ever ran a mb bigblade on a gd?

3 blade with 2 hours and rust?

One of the things I like about the GD 2 blade is longivity - I get more
running time out of it - I average about 50 hours on a 3 blade and
about 90 hours on the 2 blade GD props

Any feel for longivity with the MB prop vs the GD ???

Was told it was a bit softer metal

PS - Hopkins makes the GD 2 blade for them - they WILL customize one just for you
in any pitch you request - PM me if you want his phone number - great guy and they
slow down about now as the boat racing season is winding down.... If you talk to
him about rpm and load target numbers he can crunch the numbers and help you
pick a target pitch too and can do 1/2 pitch and 1/4 pitch variations as well....

oh and for the record,i once had to change the whole shaft out because that forkin prop wasnt coming off,the shop couldnt get it off either.

and......it would be good advice for the gd owners,especially lt owners to remove the prop at least every oil change
