Re: PLASTIC ON PROP
Anybody hear of Toups Propeller Service in Abbeville. A buddy of mine said he had a few worn out props added to and hardened there. He said they to a top notch job.

PLASTIC ON PROP
HAS anyone tried metal spray on a prop. We used to metal spray down hole plunger pumps and sucker rod couplings for the oil patch. They would wear out many steel casings while running in acids, salts, grit , mud, and other harse agents. These are heat applied and surface ground.

Re: PLASTIC ON PROP
the PD rock guard will save alot of prop. Not sure about the other manufactures have something similar? It is basically like adding 4 more skeg plates, and only drop performance a little.

Re: PLASTIC ON PROP
The rock guards are good for what they were designed for (hitting rocks in clear water). In the duck pond it doesn't allow the prop to dig down deep enough when you need it to, (even the smaller ones like on the GTs hinder it in the thicker/harder bottoms). not to mention the duck grass and vegitation that builds up around it. I made my own skeg without the 1/2 round stock on the bottom and find it cuts and digs better than the stock ones. jm .02 I think that the technology is out there. but worn props are good business! I could be wrong though!

Re: PLASTIC ON PROP
Hey!!! We run carbide scags on our snowmobile skis......right down the road some times.....its the hardest shit I ever ran into......machining it will be difficult for sure.............Now that you crackers have beat the shiz with a z out of this guy we are finally getting some were with this thread........Just wait to see what I will be runnin in about 5 years......Keep thinking outside the box buddy. Us engineers have no boundaries but in our heads...... Here is something to consider.... anything less than perfectly smooth on a prop will cause cavitation. Bubbles are the enemy of efficiency and the only way to overcome efficiency loss is with raw horse power.....which equals more weight.....which requires more torque requirement......viscous circle Good Luck,
