Can some one please post a picture of the brake caliper behind the clutch on their Gator tail. I just finished installing a new housing on mine and the caliper is only grabbing 1/4" on the disc. I tried calling gator tail and they are out the shop working. Can some one please post a picture. I am sure this is how it is suppose to be but i was thinking about drilling new holes 3/4" higher so the pad grabs more.

WOOOO Don't go drilling any holes... There's an allen screw to adjust the brake caliper which will allow you to close the distance from the pads to the rotor it touches (clutch).


If you just finished installing it then doesn't it look the same as when you took it off?

I measured the holes for lunch and they are 3/4" lower then the holes on my short transom belt housing. I guess gatortail now has a larger brake disc. I called again to speak with someone and they are busy. I hope that is the case and I can order a new disc and be done.

You need to have full contact of the pads on the rotor. If I had my Boat at the house I could tell you. So you are saying that your caliper needs to move up? Is there an alumium spacer on the back of the belt housing? I think I recall one on mine. But its been a while since I looked really good. I never had to fool with my caliper assembly.

The space moves the caliper out not up & down...

I wonder if Gator-Tail sent you the wrong part?

I'm no expert so maybe the parts are slightly different between the 35 & 23?

Just a thought did you install the spacer upside down or backwards?

HMmmmmm do you have the old style caliper? maybe they sent you the housing with the new style reverse holes drilled and they may be a little different. What all did you change out?

Joey can def answer your questions. Take a pic and post up your issue. It might be as simple as drilling a couple new holes.

I think that I will just drill 2 new holes. My engine is a 2008 and i am sure that over the years the design changed. Everything else fit great just the caliper hangs 3/4" to low and only has 1/4" of contact. I would like to speak to gatortail but I just called again and they do not have any one that can talk right now and someone should contact me tomorrow. Great customer support.

They do have a new reverse setup than the 08 you and I have. I could well be the mounting locations for the caliper are different.

Im not 100% on this because i havent seen the new stye caliper setup yet. but I was just suggesting it could be the issue!

Always the case for me.This site definetily is your best bet when it comes to answers.It seems that once you have to many problems with your GT they black ball your call.Its not the costumers job to ask for specific people in office or shop.Secretary should be the one to make sure these calls are taken by anyone available.

more problems i've had, the less immediate the help that I got has been. funny ya'll mentioned black balled. i kinda felt like that this week. It took them 4 days to respond to me regarding a broken belt

Gator tail has been that way for a while now. U have a better chance talkn to the president. They always took great care of me when something was broke r wasn't right but as far as the phone, I literally hate to call there cause u just get ducked around
