Post Re: 5500 mb 3 blade prop
I have a 4500 BD and was thinking of getting a 2 blade for the summer run. So I basically have the same ? I just don't know what pitch 2 blade I should get for better speed and less load. Running a 1751 Excel.

Sorry don't mean to jack your post

I have the 3 blade on my 5500 and a buddy let me try a reworked 2 blade and it was night and day diffrence the 3 blade sux but u gotta get the 2 blade turned into a 12.25x12 with a lil pitch added for it to work rite because of the way the 5500's are geared

i seen that the newer 4500 and 5500 come with 2 blades not three.why would they put a junk prop on a motor if the 2 blade is better.

Its not a junk prop, just carries a load better with a 3 blade. I'm getting around 28mph with or without a load. 2 blade will be faster without a load but can't handle the load as well. I'm hoping to get in the mid 30's with a two blade.

Is your excel the F4? Thinking of getting an excel boat, how do you like yours and does it handle in rough waves going across open water.

Mines not the F4. Its just the SWV. I can't give you much info on waves in open water. I will say that I'm well satisfied with the performance of the boat all around.

I got my 5500 right when Mud Buddy stopped selling them with the 3 blade and I thought it was the guy that sold me the engine was messing with me but I was wrong. Turns out they had a lot of complaints with the 3 blade and just discontinued them all together because it couldn't do as well in the mud.

Right now I'm running a 12x10 on a 1750HD Gator Trax and it runs good but bumps the rev limiter like nothing. I'm also the guy that lent Blackdeathmudder the 12x12 prop to try out and it ran better on his set up than on mine.

i think mudbuddy should let people return the 3 for a 2 if thats what works better,i;ll call it a prop recall.pretty sad spend all that money on a motor and come to find out they discontinued the 3 mmm.wonder what will be next.maybe for the price of there motors mudbuddy should include 2 props that way you can choose for yourself.
