 New Prodrive Grease Fitting
I saw a Prodrive ad that showed a new zerk fitting on the lower unit that mine does not have. It must be something new on the 2011 models. It is on top of the LU facing up, right before where the cavitation plate meets the LU. Anyone know what it's for?

It greases the shaft that connects to prop

 Re: New Prodrive Grease Fitting
Just like the 08 addition of the upper grease bearing / seal, they added one to the lower bearing now. Trying to stop the seal leaks by the added grease pressure I guess .

 Re: New Prodrive Grease Fitting
The gear case is now sealed off from the prop shaft. The prop shaft housing is grease filled instead of oil filled so that when the lower prop shaft seals get bad it doesn't let water into the gearcase. They r new as of 09/2010. I got one of the first ones, by chance.

 Re: New Prodrive Grease Fitting
Both the upper spline and lower prop shafts are now greased filled and the gears are still oil bath. No need for the vent on top either they come plugged now. I've been running one for a while and its the best thing since sliced bread imo. Just remove the bottom plug ( where you use to drain the gear oil) and pump grease until it comes out clean. So now if your prop seals go out it will just leak grease and not allow water get in the gear housing.

 Re: New Prodrive Grease Fitting
Gotcha, just the shaft and not the whole LU.
