 Lower unit GTR 35
I have a 09 GTR35 just this past hunting season the lower unit had water in the shaft. After getting the bearings and seals replaced the shaft is now leaking greese in the belt side of the shaft. The leak in coming from the two bolts on the outside of the flange. (Exterior part of the shaft) Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks

 Re: Lower unit GTR 35
Do you have pics, not sure what 2 bolts your talking about, also you have to drain your belt housing ever so often cause water can come in throught the clutch cover, not neccessarily your seals leaking.

 Re: Lower unit GTR 35
The only place that grease can come out of the belt side is from a defective seal. The seal is held in by press fit with a snap ring to keep from blowing out and it rides on the shaft wear sleeve. The shaft is held inplace by the upper bearing, then the seal keeps grease inside shaft. The shaft sticks out and has a threaded section. The taperlock bushing / pulley is pushed until the bushing contacts the wear sleeve. Tighten the 2 allen screws on the bushing to secure pulley to bushing. Then tighten the lock nut to threafed section until it hits the bushing and get it GOod-n-tight. Thats it to the pulley side of the shaft. If you are leaking you have a bad seal.
