Changed prop on LT now getting less rpms
I've posted this on the LT forum:
Had routin maintenance done and got a new prop on my 23 hp gdlt. Before, I could get above 3500 rpms in the water loaded, now I get 3300 max on the water w/ an empty load.
I'm going to call sportsmans tomorrow and see what he says (where it was serviced)
Any ideas, suggestions?

old prop 9x6 and new one is 9x6 (according to receipt)
I'm new to LT's.

Re: Changed prop on LT now getting less rpms
couple of things could be happening with your prop
1. prop is not the actual pitch it is supposed to be, i purchased a 9x5 before and it actually was a 9x7 with really thick blades and had to have it reworked, so if you have a local prop shop they can check it for you. that would cause lower rpms
2. original prop was wore down so it did not measure 9 inches, that would also allow the motor to turn more rpms
3. and finally one has more cup in it than the other, again all 3 issues relate to your prop so that is where you need to start by having a prop shop measure it

Where did you buy the prop from??
If your old 9x6 was worn let's say to 8.5 you will spin mo rpm!!
I heard GoDevil repitched there props to help protect the motors.....
I'd say run it

Re: Changed prop on LT now getting less rpms
You can only get 3300 RPM's empty, WOT?
On my old LT, a new prop would drop the RPM's, but the speed stayed the same. Your old prop has a LOT of the cup worn off, and that makes a big difference. I don't know where you are located at in LA (I'm assuming your in LA since there is an LA plate on the trailer), but Go-Devil will recup that old prop for a small fee, and you would see how much of a difference it actually makes.

a new prop will have more meat.. so, you will not turn it as fast.

The Sportsman in Abbeville is a Huge Dealer of Go Devil.. I think the owner and Coco are bestest friends or something.. So, he would have for sure got it from Go Devil.

Re: Changed prop on LT now getting less rpms
If I get it measured and it is a 9x6, would a 9x5 be a better prop?
