I need some help folks. I have this motor that won't run more than about 5mph. Something is slipping. It feels just like the clutch slipping but everyone tells me either the clutch works or it doesn't. I've called Mud Buddy and they don't care. It's a 2009 motor on a 2009 tracker marsh hunter boat. My buddy bought the boat new in 2010 and i rode in it last winter and it pulled just fine so I know it's not a setup issue. I've checked belt tension, pulled the clutch off, checked to make sure the gear and keyway on the lower shaft are in good shape and everything checks out ok. Please help!

You think so? Mud Buddy says they either work or don't. Not disputing you just trying to make sure before I throw some money away. Does anyone make a little tougher electric clutch for it?

Turn on the key, but don't start it. Engage the clutch & see if you can spin the prop without turning over the motor. Even with a weak clutch, it might still turn the motor, but it's a start.

I've tried that and it engages enough I can spin the motor over with the prop.
