Post subject:  Shaft Angle?

I am fairly new to the Mud Motor world even though I've had a small go-devil since I could drive. I recently got a 2007 MB sport and I'm having a lot of trouble getting it to plane in thick vegetation. It is on a 17/54 and is a 35hp stock but has several mods done and is supposed to be putting out around 45hp?

Anyway, in open water it flies. But is not impressive in mud or thick vegetation? It is on Xpress new mud boat, I am wondering if it is getting trimmed low enough under the boat to get a good push??

Thanks

Are you running a short transom motor on a tall transom boat

Idk the transom angle suggested for MB but I would see if the transom an motor angles match.

Should be 20* for the MB I believe

A pic or two might help you get some input from the MB guys...

Maybe a side shot - trimmed down - with the camera down even with the hull bottom...

Some combos can benefit from a wedge between motor and hull to get the trim right
maybe someone will pick up on something that can help you....

A blind - dumbazz guess could be prop wear - a worn prop will loose azz in the muck
but still turn up pretty good speed at WOT... What rpm you turning ???

Pretty sure those boats are built for a GTR so the angle will be about the same.

I run a 3man hide with a 45mag, they say the longer drives help get the bigger/wider boats own plane faster with a load in them. So the 27in drive ain't getting a bite that a 32/40in drives do to get u going. Gona get a 40in in a month or so and find out for my self.

I lowered my transom, it helped some. I am also coming to grips with the fact that I am in suuuuper thick vegetation. Nothing can plane you fast in this stuff!!!!!

Thanks
