Mount it and run it for awhile and see if it will work for you. If not then cut it down. Just my opinion. Duckdon

Just to be clear - 17' means 17 feet & 17" means 17 inches....
So your hull has a 17 inch transom height ?
In a PM - I asked you - if your hull were level then you adjusted your GDSD till the lower fins were level - then looked from the rear down those lower fins back toward the transom - where are they aligned in regard to the transom and hull bottom ???

1" only matters with diks and props.
Run it like it is before you risk messing it up.
