 Twin Engines on One Frame??
I was sitting here pondering/killing time and had a crazy thought.....would there be any advantage to putting two 16hp engines on one SD frame? You would have a combined hp output of 32hp for $500 engine costs. It would look goofy but it would be a cheap way to get 30+hp.

Re: Twin Engines on One Frame??
2 engines and one prop probably will NOT work. The 2 engines probably will NEVER run in sync with each other. That causes one to be be forced you know? No chance that both will idle, throttle up, or down at the exact same rates while connected to a ahred pully to spin a prop.

I wouldn't waste my money or time on it my boy. if you want 32hp then buy a 35 hp and run it with the choke partially out.

Re: Twin Engines on One Frame??
1st thought.....I think it could be done with centrifugal clutches on both engines. From what I read, it's hard as hell to find that kind of clutch to handle the horsepower and schmidt mud motors go through. 2nd thought....why not just buy a 35? If you just want to blow some money, I need another grand before I can get my boat built....

Thanks for the replies. As you can see, not all of my thoughts are spot on.

Re: Twin Engines on One Frame??
I did some research on this and It can be done with a direct connection. You just have to make sure the carb is spot on for BOTH carbs and that both idle with the same amount of fuel aswell at WOT. You can offset the firing order similar to the way a Vtwin fires and you should be fine. Apparently there is a tractor that has 5 engines on it!
